was inspired by a something Ruth found as she rooted around in a cupboard to find blankets to help support victims of the Grenfell fire.
A small 1914 Princess Mary tin was hidden away in the cupboard. It belonged to Ruth's Great Aunt Ella's fiancé, Sydney, who was lost at the battle of Cambrai. The tins were a morale boosting gift from the Crown to the troops and this discovery became the catalyst for the novel.
It's especially poignant this year as it's the centenary of the end of WW1 so the book almost launches in real time.
We look forward to seeing you there!
