Join us on Wednesday, March 28 for an evening with best-selling author, explorer and photographer, Levison Wood, hosted by The Sunday Times deputy travel editor, Duncan Craig, at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington.
His work has taken him around the world, leading expeditions on five continents and he is an elected fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Explorers Club.
Levison will be discussing his fascinating life and his famous walking adventures, in particular the story of his ten thousand mile journey overland as told in his new book, Eastern Horizons. Wood was twenty two, back-packing on a tiny budget; hitching, walking and following in the path of his greatest heroes, travelling through geographically inhospitable lands, as well as politically and militarily unstable ones.
After he had left the army, the notes he made on this journey were finally turned into Eastern Horizons, a book which was shortlisted for Adventure Travel Book of the Year at the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards 2018 and which shows the excitement and enquiring mind of a true traveller.
Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event and guests will also have the opportunity to meet Levison and get their books signed at the end of the evening. There will be a cash bar available ahead of the talk.
