As the eponymous Queenie careers from one questionable decision to another, she finds herself wondering, 'What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Who do you want to be?' -all of the questions today's woman must face in a world trying to answer them for her.
Candice will be discussing these questions and taking a broader look at black culture and black womanhood with Tobi Oredein, co-founder of Black Ballad, which aims to tell the human experience through the eyes of black women in the UK.
They will also touch on Candice's personal journeys of writing her debut book, why books are important to black women and wider audiences and celebrate the cultural significance of Queenie at this moment in time.
Tickets are £10, £8 for students and £7 for Black Ballad members, and include a glass or wine or soft drink.
