Holly Ringland grew up wild and barefoot in her mother's tropical garden in Australia. Travelling in a camper van from one national park to another, Holly's interest in culture and stories was sparked early. In 2009, she moved to England, where she has taught creative writing and, for five years, volunteered as a leader of a Greater Manchester storytelling project called International 16, bringing together students from 16 different countries to promote global friendship through storytelling.
Flowers can say things that are too hard to put into words. Flowers, fire and fairy tales are the elements that will forever shape nine year old Alice Hart's life, as she lives in isolation by the sea amongst wild nature. Until, that is, tragedy changes her life, and she is sent to live with the Grandmother she never knew existed, on a native flower farm. There, Alice learns to use the language of flowers to say things that are too hard to speak, regaining her courage as she realises there ARE some stories flowers just can't tell.
