A short story is a love affair, a novel is a marriage. A short story is a photograph; a novel is a film.

The Short Story Salon is a regular event curated and chaired by Mslexia columnist and host of What Page Are You On? podcast Alice Slater. Featuring both well-established authors and exciting newcomers, the salon celebrates the form with readings, conversation and wine.
In March, Alice will be speaking to critic and writer Chris Power, whose 'Brief Survey of the Short Story' has appeared in the Guardian since 2007 and whose short fiction has been published in The Stinging Fly, The Dublin Review and The White Review, about his debut collection Mothers.
Joining them will be Adam O'Riordan poet, writing lecturer and author of The Burning Ground, a collection of short stories which was published in January 2017 to critical acclaim.
